Chennai, Aug 2 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit and
Chief Minister M K Stalin today greeted ace shuttler P V Sindhu
for winning the bronze medal in the Tokyo Olympics, adding to the
silver she had won in Rio in the previous edition.
Sindhu became the first Indian woman sportsperson to win back
to back medals in Olympics.
In his greetings, Mr Purohit said 'My Heartiest congratulations
to PV Sindhu for having won the Olympic Bronze medal for India
in this Olympics, Tokyo also."
"She has once again proved her as an extraordinary badminton player
and we the whole Nation is proud of her", the Governor said.
Mr Purohit said Sindhu, has brought pride to India through her
historical achievement. She becomes the first Indian woman to
win medals in two Olympic games.
"I am sure her achievement will inspire and motivate many sports
persons from India to perform their best at Olympics and get
many more medals and laurels for our Great Nation", he said,
according to a Raj Bhavan communique.
"I also congratulate her parents on this historic event. May
she continue to bring glory to the Nation.I wish her best for
all her future endeavors", the Governor said.
In a tweet, Mr Stalin said "congratulations and felicitations to
@Pvsindhu1 for her great performance in winning #Bronze in
#Badminton."
"Wishing her to bag more medals in future for the nation", he
said.
Mr Stalin also congratulated the Indian women hockey team for
defeating former champions Australia and entering the semifinals
in the Olympics.
"I am absolutely delighted at the victory of Indian women's
Hockey team against Australia to storm into the semi-finals.
You're scripting history", he said.
"I wish you all the best to enter the finals and clinch the
Olympics Gold", he added.
