Mateco acquires Debru

International rental company Mateco has acquired Dutch aerial lift rental company Debru Hoogwerker Verhuur. The deal become effective as of yesterday - the first of August.

Debru is based Ter Apelkanaal south east of Groningen near the Dutch German border, it specialises in truck mounted lifts, with a substantial fleet which was topped by a 100 metre Wumag (Palfinger) WT1000, although the release from Mateco indicates that the largest machine is currently a 70 metre unit. The Debru business will merge with the Mateco Netherlands that already operates form seven locations.

Mateco chief operating officer Andries Schouten said: “This strategic acquisition gives us the opportunity to grow our truck mounted platform activities in the Netherlands faster. Mateco is already market leader in Germany. With the acquisition of Debru we are now also the market leader in the Netherlands. “

Patrick de Vries of Debru added: “Our current complete team of employees will become part of the Mateco family, and our current customers will benefit enormously from Mateco’s strategic strength. I am proud and have full confidence in a strong future.”

Mateco was until recently part of Belgium’s TVH but is now a totally separate business following a split in ownership between the two families that owned the business See: TVH ownership changes

Mateco Netherlands was formerly Gunco, which was established in Rotterdam in 1968 as a forklift rental company, adding aerial lifts in the 1970s. In 2007 it acquired Milcon and was itself acquired by TVH from owner Pon in 2011. The name change to Mateco came in 2018 as part of a global rebranding– See: Mateco branding applied to Gunco and Vamasa
Mateco has its roots in Stuttgart Germany but now operates across 16 countries, with 160 locations with one of Europe’s largest fleets of aerial work platforms, telehandlers and forklift trucks.
