Punjab school reopening 2021: Education department told to ensure SOPs

Parents will have to submit written consent before sending their wards to schools. The government has also given choice to the students to opt for online classes instead of attending the school physically.
Singla also directed the education department officials and school managements to ensure proper cleaning of premises and classrooms. He asked the officials to ensure that teaching and non-teaching staff receive both doses of vaccination before allowing them to conduct physical classes. The district education officers will have to arrange the availability of vaccines for school staff on a priority basis in liaison with the respective district administration.
The minister said random testing would also be conducted in schools with the ratio of 100:1 students and secretary school education would review the situation on a weekly basis. As per the standard operating procedures, there must be at least six-feet distance between students and schools have been advised to mark the seats that students have to occupy. To ensure that proper distance is maintained, only one student will be allowed to sit on a bench, while other protocols like using sanitisers and wearing masks will be followed strictly.
