The state health department said that Maharashtra has reported 6,479 fresh Covid-19 cases and 157 fatalities on Sunday. The total tally of coronavirus cases climbed to 63,10,194 while the death toll reached 1,32,948. Meanwhile, 4,110 patients recovered from Covid-19 infection on Sunday.With the new additions, the tally of recoveries in Maharashtra now stands at 60,94,896, leaving the state with 78,962 active cases with a recovery rate of 96.59 per cent. The case fatality rate is 2.1 per cent.Mumbai, on the other hand, reported 331 new Covid-19 cases on Sunday. The total number of cases reached 7,35,112. Also, 10 people succumbed to the virus thus taking the death toll to 15,899.Meanwhile, the Lalbaugcha Raja Ganpati Mandal will go ahead with Ganeshotsav celebrations this year after last year's hiatus. 16-year-old gang-raped twice in 3 hours after leaving home post tiff with family
A teenager, who left home after a tiff with family, was gang-raped at least twice in a span of around three-and-a-half hours post midnight on July 29 by half dozen men. The teenager was first raped at a room belonging to a railway coolie at Timki, and later inside an autorickshaw in front of Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and Hospital (IGGMCH). Four persons, all rickshaw drivers, have been arrested so far by Government Railway Police (GRP) and Sitabuldi police station. This is the second time the teenager, who is learnt to be mentally challenged and a school dropout after Standard VII, has been raped after leaving home in the last two years. Read story here
