Khammam: Telangana state is a major supplier of food grains in the country, Transport Minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar noted.
The state has produced an unprecedented amount of three crons of tons of paddy this year, he said after inaugurating a Rythu Vedika and Vaikuntadhamam in the town of Vallabhi in the Mudigonda mandal in the district on Monday.
Ajay Kumar, along with the chairperson of Zilla Parishad, inaugurated Lingala Kamalraj Rythu Vedikas in the towns of Mudigonda, Chirumarri and Pammi in the Madhira constituency. The minister said Rythu Vedikas was built in all groups in the district to unite the farmers. The prime minister, K Chandrashekhar Rao, has introduced innovative programs to increase the state’s prosperity and spend the same on the well – being of the farmer and the economic growth of Telangana, he noted.
With the aim of changing the rural areas, the Palle Pragathi program was implemented, and up to 12, 557 grams of panchayats in the state were now equipped with tractors, trolleys, tankers. The program helped prevent viral fever, dengue and malaria, as extensive sanitation and cleanliness activities were used.
Once every six months, the state government has credited R15 000 crore in the bank accounts of about 60 lakh farmers throughout the state under the Rythu Bandhu system. In the same way, Aasara pensions are given to about 38 lakh people in different categories.
Last year, the government waived crop loans of less than 25,000 for about 2.96 lakh farmers. Similarly, the government has decided to waive crop loans of less than Rs 50,000 for six farmers and the amount will be credited from August 15 to 31, Ajay Kumar said.
Later that day, the minister, along with Madhira MLA Bhatti Vikramarka and the chairman of the ZP, Kamalraj, inaugurated a newly built Mandal Praja Parishad primary school building built at R8.30 lakh in the Patarlapadu village of Chintakani Mandal in the district. TS Seeds Corporation Chairman, K Koteshwar Rao, MLC B Lakshminarayana, DCCB Chairman, K Nagabhushanam, District Collector, VP Gautham and others were present.
