Aston Martin Valkyrie Roadster to be revealed at Pebble Beach
Open-top Valkyrie on its way, joining the coupe and track-only AMR
Aston Martin will reveal a new Valkyrie Roadster at California’s 2021 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in a few weeks time, joining the coupe and new track-focused AMR model due to reach customers next year.
The Roadster has always been in the Valkyrie product plan, and aims to bring a little more open air to Aston’s flagship hypercar, which has been co-developed with Red Bull. Few specifics are known so far about the new Roadster, but it’ll likely share a majority of its technical components with the coupe.
One major element that will change are the gullwing doors, which given the lack of a roof are now hinged at the leading edge of the windscreen. This will also lift the snug interior’s tight dimensions, which in the coupe is driven by the Valkyrie’s LMP1-inspired cockpit that’s significantly narrower than most road-going hypercars. While cabin-width itself won’t change with the Roadster, the lack of a roof will dramatically increase perceived space, as well as give you even more access to the screaming V12 engine solidly-mounted only inches behind.
The new Valkyrie Roadster will be joined by a production-ready version of the coupe and the new Valhalla, already revealed in the UK, which recently went through a big transformation in adopting AMG’s V8 engine rather than the bespoke V6, which has since been canned.
Aston Martin’s arrival at the beach is also in celebration of the brand’s 70 year presence in the US, as well as a show of strength thanks to a strong sales performance, thanks largely to the DBX SUV.
