Shares of Tata Consultancy (up 1.64 per cent), Infosys (up 1.31 per cent), Coforge (up 1.14 per cent), MPhasis (up 1.04 per cent) and HCL Technologies (up 1.02 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Oracle Financial Services Software (down 0.69 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty IT index closed 1.06 per cent up at 30803.05.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 122.1 points at 15885.15, while the BSE Sensex stood up 363.79 points at 52950.63.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 40 ended in the green, while 10 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, Trident Ltd, Tata Power, IDFC First Bank and YES Bank were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Stylam Ind, Kothari Petro, Hind Oil Expl, Zota Healthcare and Walpar Nutritions Ltd. hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Vera Synthetic, OCL Iron Steel, Viceroy Hotels, Rajvir Ind and DQ Entertainmnt hit their fresh 52-week lows.
