Astros place RHP Ryan Pressly on paternity leave

The Houston Astros placed two-time All-Star right-hander Ryan Pressly on the paternity list prior to Sunday's game against the host San Francisco Giants.

Pressly's wife, Kat, gave birth to the couple's first child this weekend.

Manager Dusty Baker told reporters that Pressly "barely got there in time."

Pressly, 32, is 4-1 with 18 saves and a 2.05 ERA in 42 relief appearances this season. He owns a 25-23 record with 36 saves and a 3.25 ERA in 427 career relief appearances with the Minnesota Twins (2013-18) and Astros.

In a corresponding move, the Astros recalled right-hander Bryan Abreu from the taxi squad.

Abreu, 24, is 3-3 with a 4.08 ERA in 30 relief appearances this season. He has that same record with a 3.42 ERA in 41 career appearances with the Astros.
