Imphal, July 31 2021: A police team led by SDPO Singjamei confiscated around 16 bundles/bags of betel leaves from Imphal International Airport, and arrested a man in this connection on Saturday morning.

The man has been identified Kangjam Jackson Singh (22) s/o (L) K Dhananjoy Singh of Utlou Chanura Bazar.

According to a police report, acting on reliable information that a huge consignment of betel leaves has been brought to Imphal International airport via Guwahati-Imphal Air India flight (9I-741) around 11am Saturday, the Singjamei police station team along with Airport police airport conducted an operation and seized the betel leaf consignment from the cargo delivery point at 12.30 pm.

The betel leaves were being transported from Guwahati by a man identified as Pramod through a carrier agent named Bhagwati Air Express Pvt Ltd with a consignee named SSS.

The consignment was received by Kangjam Jackson on behalf of SSS.

Jackson has been handed over to Singjamei PS for taking up further course of legal action, it conveyed.
