Curchorem: Hinting at an alliance with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), senior Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) leader and Marcaim MLA Ramakrishna ‘Sudin’ Dhavalikar on Sunday said his party will win 18 seats during the forthcoming state assembly elections.
He was speaking to media persons following the inauguration of MGP office in Curchorem.
Curchorem Cacora municipal council (CCMC) councillors Aparna Prabhudessai, Mangaldas Ghadi and others were present on the occasion.
Stating that the 2022 polls will be his last assembly election, Dhavalikar said the party will promote young leaders in all constituencies and added that they will work under the guidance of the senior leaders of MGP.
“In Sanvordem constituency, Ramakant Gaonkar and Balaji Gaonkar are the two aspirants for the party ticket and a decision in this regard will be taken by the party within the next 20 days,” said Dhavalikar. “Similarly, there are three aspirants each in Sanguem and Quepem constituencies. Decision will also be taken regarding Canacona constituency. Shiroda constituency will be a cakewalk for the party. All the traditional strongholds will be identified and accordingly the work will start,” he said.
When questioned about MGP considering any alliance for the assembly polls, the senior party leader said, “MGP will not ally with parties that admit persons who are known for defections. Alliance is possible with parties like AAP, which are clean and known for clean records.”
