Hyderabad, Aug 1 (UNI) Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao congratulated India's ace shuttler PV Sindhu who won a bronze medal in the women’s singles category in the ongoing Tokyo Olympics.
In a message here on Sunday, the Chief Minister expressed happiness on PV Sindhu creating history as she became the first Indian woman who has accomplished victory by winning medals in two successive Olympics.
Sindhu on Sunday won the bronze medal for India after defeating China's He Bing Jiao 21-13 21-15 at Musashino Forest Plaza in Tokyo, Japan.
Now, Sindhu has become the first Indian woman to win two individual medals at Olympics. She had won the silver medal in Rio Olympics in 2016.
Wrestler Sushil Kumar was the first and only other Indian to win two Olympic medals. He had won bronze in Beijing Olympics (2008) and silver in London Olympics (2012).
