KOKRAJHAR, July 31: Several students sustained serious injuries after police resorted to lathi-charge on them at Salakati High School. Notably, the incident occurred while the students were staging a protest in support of proper check of HSLC results that were declared on Friday. Over 100 students and guardians staged the protest jointly while expressing unhappiness over the results. Agitated students gheraoed the school headmaster, and created a ruckus within the campus. Later, police resorted to lathi-charge to disperse the students.
The injured students were rushed to the local hospital for treatment. Notably, only 47 students managed to pass the HSLC examination, out of the 284 appearing students of Salakati High School. All BTC Minority Students Union leader Moinuddin Ali strongly condemned the high-handedness of the police and demanded the SEBA and concern authorities to rethink the declared HSLC results.
On the other hand, expressing dissatisfaction over the declaration of the results, hundreds of students and guardians of Debargaon HS school also staged a protest demonstration in front of the school complex at Debargaon in Kokrajhar and demanded an early re-evaluation of marks assessment. A total of 79 students were declared to have passed the HSLC final examinations, out of the 136 appeared students in Debargaon HS School. Notably, Kokrajhar district secured an overall 92.04 pass percentage in the HSLC final examination.
