Hyderabad, Aug 1 (UNI) Thousands of devotees offered prayers and had darshan of the goddess at the famous Laldarwaja Simahavani Mahankali Ammavari temple in the old city of Hyderabad on the occasion of "Bonalu" festival on Sunday.
Hundreds of women carrying the "Bonam" (cooked rice and jaggery) in brass pots carrying on their heads queued up near the temple to offer the bonam to the deity.
Actress-turned-politician Vijayasanthi was also seen carrying "bonam" containing in brass pot to offer it to the goddess.
Telangana Ministers Indrakaran Reddy and Talasani Srinivas Yadav offered silk clothes to the Goddess.
Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya, Telangana Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali, BJP's Telangana unit President Bandi Sanjay and TPCC President A.Revanth Reddy were among the prominent people who had darshan of the Goddess.
Traffic restrictions were imposed on the roads in the vicinity of the temple in view of the Bonalu festival.
Temple authorities and police have made elaborate arrangements for the smooth conduct of the festival.
Bonalu festival was also held in other parts of the city including in Secunderabad cantonment area.
