Khateer Alkhaldiah lands another listed victory

His Highness Sheikh Mohameed bin Khalifa al-Thani’s five-year-old pure-bred Arabian Khateer Alkhaldiah (Laith Al Khaldiah x Edele De Carrere) held on bravely to take the Prix Burkeguy (Listed) at Mont De Marsan on Friday.
Trained by Elizabeth Bernard, Khateer Alkhaldiah scored for a fifth consecutive time and landed a listed title for the second time in a row. was ridden by Gary Sanchez.
Khateer Alkhaldiah was sent straight into the lead by Sanchez and set steady fractions through the first half of the 1,600m contest. With a two length advantage turning for home, the five-year-old had most of his rivals in trouble but was pressed strongly by Group One winner Amyr Du Soleil (Amer) inside the final two furlongs. Looking beaten inside the final furlong, Khateer Alkhaldiah rallied gamely to snatch victory from Amyr Du Soleil in the final strides. Hazzam (Al Mumun Monlau) ran on well for third.
The winning trainer Elizabeth Bernard spoke to Equidia after the success: “This is a lovely victory for many reasons. This horse was born in Saudi-Arabia, on a stud that we have worked closely with for three years now. It has been extremely difficult because we weren’t allowed to run the horse. The horses stayed in training for over a year without running. Today is a form of victory to those who are connected to these horses and who fought so hard to be allowed to run. Secondly, the horse is owned by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al-Thani, who has trusted an elderly woman trainer to train his horse even though he is surrounded by young, dynamic professionals. I want to also thank his work rider. Now we will try and make his objective the Qatar Arabian World Cup (Group One Arabs) at ParisLongchamp.
Bred by Al Khalediah Stud, Khateer Alkhaldiah is by Laith Al Khalediah(Tiwaiq) and is out of Edele De Carrere (Djourman) a winner over 1,800m. She has also produced Jalab Al Khalediah (Amer) winner of the Group One Prix Shadwell Mangante at Deauville.
