Environment Minister Nilesh Cabral has told the state legislative assembly during the just-concluded monsoon session that the head of the Goa State Wetland Authority has been instructed to prepare the final notification on eight approved wetlands spelling out demarcation of wetland areas, buffers and zones of influence.
These eight approved wetlands are: Bondval lake (Tiswadi), Cottombi lake (Quepem), Toyyar lake (Chimbel), Sarzora lake (Salcete), Saulem lake (Bardez), Zeldem lake (Quepem), Dhashi lake (Bardez), and Nanda lake (Quepem).
He was replying to a question raised by Porvorim MLA Rohan Khaunte, who had sought details of the notified or declared wetlands.
The minister said there has been no final notification declaring any wetlands in the state.
There are 11 ‘draft-notified’ wetlands; of which eight will be approved by the GSWA for final notification after incorporating guidelines suggested by the authority at a meeting held on March 16.
