A delegation of the Goa Forward Party led by its president Vijai Sardesai called on Governor P S Sreedharan Pillai on Saturday evening and handed him a memorandum with a request not to give assent to the bills passed in the state legislative assembly on July 30.
The delegation, which also included the other two GFP legislators – Vinoda Paliencar and Jayesh Salgaokar – stated that these bills should not receive gubernatorial assent as legal and legislative norms were not followed whilst passing the same.
The GFP charged that the government is trying to increase slums in the state by introducing the Goa Bhumiputra Adhikarini bill.
Later speaking to media persons, the GFP president said that with this bill, the town and country planning rules will not have any value.
