GOOD MORNING
Good morning, good afternoon and good evening wherever you are tuning in from across the globe.
If you’re here in the U.K. like me, it’s just gone 8:15 which means it’s time to dunk that digestive biscuit in your cuppa tea whilst you get ready for another action packed day of Olympic events.
The early blog will be coverage of the men’s quarter-finals match between 1992 gold medalists Spain who take on Ivory Coast at the Miyagi Stadium
On paper, many would think that it should be a routine victory for the Spaniards with the amount of talent they have at their disposal.
In addition to that, Luis de la Fuente’s men finished top of their group without really getting out of second gear.
However, the Ivorians have shocked the world so far this tournament.
Not only did they progress through a group which both current champions Brazil and 2016 runners up Germany participated in, but the Elephants held both international giants to a draw and to add insult to injury, the 1-1 against stalemate against the Germans in their final group game ultimately was what ultimately decided Die Mannschaft’s fate.
This match is perfectly poised folks and if I were you, the only button I would be pressing is the refresh one.
The opening whistle is scheduled to blow at 9:00am UK time and we’ll be bringing you all the gossip surrounding this clash but prior to that we will be bringing you the starting line-ups.
