Thane, Jul 31 (UNI) A mega clean-up drive has been undertaken in Mahad town of Raigad district post the recent floods that claimed scores of lives and left thousands devastated.
Thane Guardian Minister Eknath Shinde is leading a team of 450 persons with 20 JCBs, 20 dumpers and other equipment to Mahad for the clean-up drive.
These teams are drawn from the civic corporations of Thane, Navi Mumbai and Panvel.
These teams have been divided into four groups and will reach each and every household and carry out the clean-up operations, said Mr Shinde.
He also announced additional funds of Rs 1.50 crore for the clean-up of the town.
To avoid outbreak and spread of any epidemic or disease ,the minister said all kinds of measures have been undertaken during the clean-up drive, which will be completed in next two days.
Thane Mayor Naresh Mhaske, additional Municipal commissioner Sandeep Malavi, DMC Ashok Burpulle and other senior officials are assisting the minister in the endevour.
