India at Tokyo Olympics Day 10: PV Sindhu eyes Bronze, India men’s hockey team aims first semi-final in 41 years; Live Stream, Scores, Date, Time, All you need to know – Day 9 turned out to be a huge disappointment for the Indian contingent at the Tokyo Olympics after PV Sindhu lost a golden opportunity to better her silver medal, losing to Tai Tzu-Ying in the semifinals in badminton. But she will still aim to return with a bronze medal when she faces China’s He Bingjiao on Sunday. Others in the fray will be India’s men’s hockey team who will take on Great Britain in the quarterfinal with an aim to reach the semifinal for the first time in 41 years.

After a disappointing Day 9, Indian athletes will be hoping to bounce back to regain some lost glory. India’s medal hopes Amit Panghal was knocked out, while Sreeshankar Murali failed to make it to the finals. Pooja Rani’s hopes to clinch a medal also ended.

Golf @ 4:00 AM: Individual Round 4 (Udayan Mane, Anirban Lahiri)

Anirban Lahiri needs a miracle to finish in the podium places as the Indian veteran slipped to 28th at the end of Round 3. The Indian golfer returned early on Saturday to complete round 2, and slipped to T-24, before finishing the day at T-28 with a score of 6-under 207. Udayan Mane meanwhile carried himself off the last place and ended at a shared 5th, with 2-over 215, having carded a 70 in round 3.

Equestrian @ 4:15 AM- Individual eventing- Cross Country (Fouaad Mirza)

Fouaad Mirza and his horse Seigneur Medicott finished the dressage stage of equestrian eventing at the Tokyo Olympics placed ninth on Saturday. Mirza amassed 28.00 penalty points in dressage on Friday, breaking into the top 10 at the sixth position before eventually ended the day tied seventh with Sweden’s Louise Romeike and her horse Cato 60 on points (28.00). The 29-year-old and Medicott have earlier won two silver medals in individual and team eventing at the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta.

Boxing @ 9:36 AM- Satish Kumar vs Bakhodir Jalolov (Men’s super heavyweight- Quarterfinal)

Satish Kumar had already created history as he became the first Indian to compete in the super heavyweight category in the Olympics. Kumar got his Olympics debut off to a fine start, clinching a place in the quarters with a resounding win over Jamaica’s Ricardo Brown. He will now face off against Uzbekistan’s Bakhodir Jalolov, a multiple Asian and World Championships winner. He comes into the Olympics on the back of a gold medal in the 2021 Asian Championships and had won the gold in the 2019 World Championships. At 6’7, Jalolov has the height advantage and his reach will definitely be something that Kumar has to worry about.

Badminton @ 5:00 PM- PV Sindhu vs He Bingjiao (Women’s singles- Bronze medal match)

PV Sindhu’s hopes of clinching an Olympic gold came to a crashing halt after she was defeated by World No.1 Tai Tzu-Ying in the semi-finals. The Chinese Taipei shuttler won in straight sets 21-18, 21-12 leaving Sindhu to contend for the bronze medal against China’s He Bingjiao. The 26-year-old gave her best shot at glory but came up short, but will now look to seal the deal with a bronze medal on Sunday.

Hockey @ 5:30 PM- India vs Great Britain (Men’s quarter-final)

Team India will be aiming to reach their first Olympic semi-final after 41 years when they take the field against Great Britain on Sunday. The Men in Blue made it past the group stage having won four of their five groups, to set up a mouth-watering clash against their arch-rivals. With the India men’s hockey team being one of the country’s biggest medal hopes, there will high expectations from Manpreet Singh and Co. to deliver the goods in Tokyo.
