Greater Noida: Desludging points will be established at 16 locations in Greater Noida.
To manage the liquid waste and sludge that is generated in the urban villages, the authority will create common points where such waste will be disposed of. Presently, the local population gets its septic tank cleared every three to four years. But the waste is often disposed of at open plots or drains.
To avoid improper disposal, the authority will collect the sludge from various pick up points and transfer it to the sewerage treatment plant in Kasna where liquid waste management plant is operational.
Sharing details, officials of the authority revealed that 124 villages are notified under the authority. “But due to the absence of sewerage lines within the villages, the majority of the villages rely on septic tanks. The tanks are usually cleared after a gap of three to four years. But the sludge is disposed of in the open drains or grounds away from the residential blocks. Chances of outbreak of vector borne diseases prevail as a result,” said the officer.
The locations where the collection points will come up are — Chauganpur rotary, STP in Ecotech 3, Moserbaer rotary, Hanuman temple rotary, Charmurti rotary, P-3 rotary, Kasna STP, C block in Xu 3, near Bennet University in Ecotech 1, near Gaur Atulyam in Omicron 1, Saini rotary, Tilapta rotary, Ek Murti rotary and Aimnabad.
