UPDATE — 8/2/21, 6 PM: Yeezy Day is coming to a close stateside, and that means the downpour of releases is gently giving way to a drizzle. At this point, the brand has played a laundry list of its biggest hits along with more than a few deep album cuts, trotting out the much-discussed OG Wave Runner (only for it to sell out in seconds) and even a duo of Powerphases. The brand also released a Yeezy 700 MNVN in black, the Yeezy 500 “Soft Vision”, Yeezy Boost 350 V2 “White (Reflective)”, and the Yeezy Quantum, among others.
Still reportedly left to drop? A grip of 350 V2s in various colors, and a few other straggler styles. So if you haven’t had any success securing a pair, don’t give up quite yet. To quote Lenny Kravitz quoting Yogi Berra: It ain’t over ‘till it’s over.
UPDATE – 8/2/21, 1 PM: Well, folks, the day is upon us. If you spent the weekend unusually excited for Monday, you already know what we’re talking about. (Maybe you even managed to snag a pair of sneakers earlier this morning. Congratulations!) For the uninitiated, it is now officially Yeezy Day, AKA your best shot yet at scoring a pair of Yeezys at retail.
If you’ve been on the fence about copping in the past, the time for indecision is over. Today and today only, the brand is dropping a formidable lineup of sneakers—some already released, some not—exclusively through Yeezy Supply, Adidas.com/yeezy, and Adidas’ own Confirmed app, though not each sneaker is available through each channel.
If frantically refreshing all three channels throughout the day sounds exhausting, you can also sign up for updates to keep abreast of what’s dropping where to save yourself the headache. (FYI: If you want to skip the fuss entirely and don’t care how much you have to pay to do it, you can always head straight to resale sites like StockX to buy the Yeezy of your choice hassle-free.)
As of right now, Kanye West’s billion-dollar baby has released a brand new take on its immediately recognizable foam runner, along with a new colorway of the Yeezy Boost 350 V2. It's also restocked a bevy of different styles including the Yeezy 700 V2 in “Inertia” and “Hospital Blue”; the Yeezy 500 in "Utility Black" and “Soft Vision”; and the Yeezy Boost 350 V2 in “Tail Light”, “Zebra”, “Synth RF”, and “Glow”—almost all of which sold out immediately. But don’t lose faith! More are sure to come at the top of every hour, so circle back here for further updates.
Kanye West doesn’t do anything halfway. His infamous perfectionism can be a hindrance (see: the extensive list of ventures he’s shelved over the years) but it also lends itself towards a certain manic productivity. When he’s on he’s on, and there’s no slowing his momentum.
Since launching Yeezy in partnership with Adidas, West has proved prolific, releasing a slew of styles that now represent a formidable percentage of the company’s overall sneaker business and silencing a horde of naysayers in the process. For sneaker fans still waiting on the artist’s forthcoming album, there’s hope on the horizon: For the second time ever, the brand will celebrate Yeezy Day 2021, a global bonanza that kicked off in 2019 but went on hiatus last year. Starting at 9 AM on Monday, August 2nd, the brand will drop a deluge of prior styles (and maybe even some new ones!) via Yeezy Supply, Adidas.com/yeezy, and Adidas’ own Confirmed app. As per usual, there’s no word yet on what styles specifically will be back in stock, but it’s safe to expect that a healthy selection of otherwise sold-out silhouettes will be available.
