Shimla, Jul 30 (UNI) The incessant rainfall has created a havoc in the hill state as one person was killed in rain-related accident, National Highway and several arterial roads remained blocked due to landslides while dozens of tourists are stranded in various parts of the state.
A jeep slipped into a deep gorge in Tikrri under Haripurdhar area of Sirmaur on Thursday afternoon, in which one person, identified as Jyanti Devi (woman), was killed while nine others sustained grievous injuries and undergoing treatment at Sangrah civil hospital, police said on Friday.
A bus met with an accident at Tindi of Kuthar under Udaipur subdivision on Friday morning, in which two persons were injured and admitted to Udaipur hospital.
One person was critically injured after a car bearing Delhi number was hit by a boulder at National Highway near Soghi on Friday. The injured is undergoing treatment in a hospital.
Hartkoti-Gumma-Shilai-Poanta National Highway was blocked after a massive landslide at Kalli Khan near Barwas under Kamrau Tehsil. Vehicular traffic is diverted via other link road, police said.
National Highway 21 is blocked between Mandi to Kullu near Pnadoh and traffic was allowed on a single lane.
As many as 221 tourists are stranded in various part of state due to closing of roads and landslides. Among them
191 are locals, 13 from Punjab, four Delhi, three each from Maharashtra and Odisha and two each from
UP and Harayana, and one each from Jharkhand, Karnataka and Ladhakh.
Also 204 people are stranded in Lahaul Spiti district and 35 tourists and 25 locals are stranded in between Shansha to Junda.
Among them, 60 were rescued as they crossed the Shansha Nullah by help of temporary ladder bridge.
Under Udaipur subdivision 51 people are stranded at Thiro, 21- in Udaipur and 72 in Triloknath. At all places
stranded were being provided temporary arrangement, food and lodging and shelter, official said.
Power and water supply also remain disrupted in various parts of the state.
