Mah: Wanted naxal couple surrenders before Gadchiroli police

Nagpur, Jul 30 (UNI) A Naxal couple, carrying a collective cash reward of Rs eight lakh on their heads surrendered in the presence of Gadchiroli Superintendent of Police (SP) Ankit Goyal, a statement said here on Friday.

The surrendered couple have been identified as Vinod alias Maniram Boga (32) and his wife Kavita alias Satto Kovachi (33) against whom multiple criminal cases were registered.

According to the statement, Vinod Boga is a resident of Botezari in Gadchiroli. He was an area committee member of Korchi Dalam of Naxalites and worked as a doctor in the unit.

Vinod was wanted in 13 cases of murder and 21 cases of police-Naxal encounters, among others and was carrying a prize reward of Rs six lakh, the statement said.

His wife was a member of Tipagarh Dalam and was carrying prize reward of Rs two lakhs on her head and she was named in five police-Naxalites encounter cases and one case of arson, among others.

As per the statement, 43 Naxals have so far surrendered in the district from 2019 to 2021 and the cadres included 2 dalam commanders, 3 Dy dalam commanders, 33 dalam members and 1 jan militia member.

Gadchiroli SP, Ankit Goyal and Swapnil Jadhav, Sub Divisional Police Officer, Dhanora, played a vital role in their surrender and rejoining the mainstream society. The surrender of the two hardcore Naxalites against the backdrop of 'Naxal Martyr Week' of the Naxalites, has dealt a big blow to the Naxal organisation, the statement added.
