Car pictures of the week
An epic Bishops Heritage Range Rover Restomod stars in this week's gallery
Variety is the spice of life, right? So amongst the high performance cars and supercars that evo’s so well known for photographing in often glamorous locations (even if those locations over the last 18 months have been firmly based on our little island), sometimes shooting something rather more upright is just as much a thrill for snapper Aston Parrott than it is for us to drive them.
In this week’s best car pictures gallery, we take you to a grey day somewhere in the middle of the UK, where Dickie Meaden pilots a resto-mod of a slightly different form to the ones we’re used to. This one’s based on the original Range Rover, yet fundamentally revamped from top to bottom by Bishops Heritage in collaboration with watchmaker Bamford X.
Creatively called the Bamford X Bishops Heritage Range Rover, it starts life as a late-build three-door Rangie, to which a GM-sourced LS3 V8 engine is slipped under the clamshell bonnet, a plush new interior and upgrades to the chassis and its components fitted.
Unlike photographing most modern cars, which require speed and dedication to appear like they’re moving around on the road, the Bishops Heritage Range Rover provided thrills for both driver and snapper at a fraction of the speed. At some points it even looked distinctly Bond villain-like, as if there was a little sliver of Silver Birch DB5 somewhere further up the road.
With shots in the bag, and Aston’s waterproofs once again proving to be essential, this fascinating resto-mod project proved to be a brilliantly fun and distinctive exercise for both, so have a ponder through our gallery to see more of the shots that didn’t make it into the current issue, which is on sale here!
