Bank manager killed in attempt to loot bank

Palghar, Jul 29 (UNI) The Manager of a private bank (ICICI) was killed and another injured when two desperadoes attempted to loot the bank branch at Virar East police said.
The Sr. PI of the Virar police station Suresh Varade told the media that the police have arrested one of the accused who is the former manager of the same branch.
It was around 8.30 p.m. the duo entered the bank branch and tried to loot the bank when the two female employees were present.
The accused former manager stabbed the manager with the sharp knife in which she was badly injured and also attacked the cashier who had come to her rescue.
The police said that the manager Yogita Chowdhari, died in the attack while the cashier Shraddha Devrukhar is injured and admitted to the private hospital where she is being treated the police said.
The police said that the accused had a loan of Rs. 1 crore on his head which he had to repay and hence he had attempted to loot the cash and the jewellery in the bank.
He placed the knife on the neck of the manager and asked her to relieve the cash and jewellery in an attempt to loot the bank.
The Virar police have since registered a crime against the duo and sent the body of the manager for a postmortem to the hospital here the police said.
The further probe into the crime is being carried out by the local police .
