Puducherry: BJP functionary expelled

Puducherry, July 30 (UNI) Puducherry unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday expelled its Traders' wing president Raja Mourya for setting a youth on fire here.
Sathish Kumar (31) from Tiruchirappally reached Puducherry in search of work and on the night of July 25, he tried to sleep near a petrol bunk at Mettupalayam.
Suspecting that Satish is a thief, Raja Mourya, the owner of the petrol bunk and six others assaulted him and at one point, poured petrol and set him on fire.
Sathish Kumar took asylum in the Mettupalayam police station and police rushed him to the government general hospital for treatment.
On a complaint from Sathish Kumar, police registered a case and arrested the culprits.
Following the arrest, Raja Mourya was expelled from the BJP by party president V Saminathan.
