Android and iOS are the two biggest smartphone operating systems in the world. This naturally makes them close rivals of each other and as a result, they keep looking for ways to attract users from the rival camp to theirs. In line with those goals, Google has been spotted developing a new app to help iOS users switch to Android, similar to how Apple offers Move to iOS for Android users.

The name of the app is Switch to Android which is self-explanatory. The app aims to make the whole data transfer process a lot more convenient. It will help iPhone users copy important data like contacts, messages, and photos along with applications and store them in Google Drive. When they will get a new Android phone, they will be able to download the data so that they do not have to go through the manual process of getting everything ready.

The references to the app have been spotted in the latest version of the "Data Restore Tool" component of Android. These were about three steps mentioned in the code:

• Step 1: Get the Switch to Android app from the App Store
• Step 2: Go to your Wi-Fi settings
• Step 3: Connect to network ^1 and enter password ^2

Google has also made changes to the written text suggesting that users will be able to transfer more data types than before. It has even mentioned apps as part of the data transfer. It is unknown exactly how Google is planning to achieve that because we know that apps can have different version numbers on iOS and Android. Another thing to keep in mind is that it will surely exclude paid apps as users will have to purchase them again from the Google Play Store to keep using them.

As of now, only code references have been discovered and Google has not shared any such plans. We will have to wait and see if and when Google makes the app available for everyone.
