Amazon's 3G Kindle devices are a good offering for those who often find themselves on the move. These ensure that they are able to download eBooks from anywhere but by the time this year ends, it will not be true anymore. As reported by Good eReader, all 3G Kindle devices will lose internet connectivity by the end of 2021.

This is because many of the major telecom providers around the globe, especially in the United States, have revealed plans to shut down 3G network services starting this December. These companies now want to invest their money, efforts, and resources in 4G and 5G networks. This makes sense as 3G has become an obsolete tech as all smartphones and smart devices now support at least 4G LTE connectivity.

It should be noted that different carriers have set different timelines for bidding farewell to 3G support. The process will begin by the end of the year and will go on through 2022. It means depending on what carrier you use, you could have a short or slightly longer time to keep using your 3G Kindle.

All Kindle devices released before 2017 feature only 3G connectivity. Amazon started to offer 4G LTE and WiFi thereafter which is actually beneficial when the mobile connection is not working. This also explains how these 3G Kindles will technically become unusable as they will not be able to connect to the internet at all.
