Two boys drown in water-filled stone quarry in Tirupur

COIMBATORE: Two boys drowned in a water-filled stone quarry in Tirupur’s Golden Nagar on Wednesday evening.
The deceased have been identified as Sathya, 13, and Kumaran, 11. They were studying in a government school.
The boys had informed their parents and gone to the stone quarry near their house to catch fish. When the boys did not return after it got dark, their parents and neighbours began searches for them.
Around half an hour later, they found the boys’ cycles and clothes outside the quarry. They alerted the fire and rescue services department, whose personnel entered the water and fished out the bodies.
The Tirupur North police registered a case.
