Lok Sabha : Three bills got green signal amid heavy uproar

In the second week of the monsoon session, the legislative business got some momentum in the third Lok Sabha. However, the opposition's position did not soften. Amid heavy uproar, the House on Wednesday cleared three bills and for the first time, the Question Hour was completed without any disruption.


Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla determined that he would not stop the legislative business amid the uproar of the opposition. On the one hand, the slogans of opposition MPs continued, on the other hand, the ministers kept answering the members during the Question Hour. During this, the ministers answered more than ten questions. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav, Coal Minister Prahlad Joshi, Science and Technology Minister Jitendra Singh, and Law and Justice Minister Kiren Rijiju also answered supplementary questions of several members. After the Question Hour, Rajendra Agrawal took the seat and due to the uproar, the House was adjourned for the first time around 12 noon.

After the House was adjourned thrice one after the other, when the House resumed at 2 pm, Minister of State for Corporate Affairs Rao Inderjit Singh first introduced the IBC Amendment Bill. Aggarwal tried to hold a debate but the opposition MPs kept on shouting after which the bill was passed by voice vote without any debate.

This bill will facilitate the insolvency settlement process under a pre-packaged arrangement on loans of less than Rs. This bill will replace the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code Amendment Ordinance, 2021 with effect from April 4, 2021, to provide relief to MSMEs during the Corona pandemic.

First supplementary demands of 23,675 crores were also approved

The Lok Sabha also approved supplementary demands for an additional expenditure of Rs 23,675 crore. In this, 17 thousand crore rupees have to be spent in the health sector. These demands were placed before the House by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman last week. In this, apart from health, Rs 2050 crore will be for the Ministry of Civil Aviation, of which 1872 crore is to be spent on Air India. Amidst the uproar of the opposition, the bill for supplementary demands was approved without discussion. In addition, the House approved the relevant Appropriation Bills. It authorizes the government to withdraw money from the Consolidated Fund of India to meet the additional expenditure.

Over 6.07 lakh cyber attacks occurred in the first half of 2021

In a written reply, Union Minister of State for Electronics and IT Rajiv Chandrashekhar told the Lok Sabha that in the first half of 2021, there were more than 6.07 lakh cybersecurity cases. According to the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team, 11,58,208 cases were registered last year, while this time the figure has crossed six lakhs within six months. In 2019, there were a total of 3,94,499 cyber attacks.

Nishikant's allegation on Mahua: Called me a Bihari goon

BJP MP Nishikant Dubey on Wednesday accused TMC's Mahua Moitra of calling her a Bihari goonda in the IT Parliamentary Committee meeting. Dubey tweeted, "Such derogatory words were used for him for the first time in his Parliamentary tenure of 13 years. Drawing Mamata Banerjee's attention to this, he said, this language style of your MP is clear how TMC sees North Indians and Hindi speakers. In another tweet, he accused Shashi Tharoor of destroying the tradition of Parliament.
