Now's the chance to experience the magic of your favorite Pixar movies and characters up close, thanks to a new exhibit from the Cincinnati Museum Center.

The museum is planning to open "The Science Behind Pixar" Oct. 22. The interactive exhibition will showcase the "boundless limits" that science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) has to offer to bring Pixar's movies to life.

It also offers a chance for visitors to come face-to-face with popular characters from Pixar through scale models, including Buzz Lightyear, Dory, Mike Wazowski, Sulley, Edna Mode and Wall-E.

The exhibit will have eight interactive areas that showcase steps in the filmmaking process: modeling, riggings, surfaces, sets and cameras, animation, simulation, lighting and rendering.

“'The Science Behind Pixar' demonstrates how wonderfully the components of STEM intersect to create whimsical worlds and iconic characters who have defined a generation,” Elizabeth Pierce, president & CEO of Cincinnati Museum Center, said in a release. “With interactive elements that make the complex concepts of digital animation accessible to a variety of age groups, the exhibition will inspire the next generation of imagineers to bring their own visions to life.”

Tickets are not yet available for the October launch of the exhibit, but will be available soon, the museum said. Museum admission includes the Cincinnati History Museum and the Museum of Natural History and Science.

Tickets for adults are $14.50, seniors are $13.50, children ages 3-12 are $10.50. Adult members and children 2 years old and under are free.
