Hacken 2-0 Aberdeen (2-5 on agg): Scottish side progress to the Europa Conference League third qualifying round despite defeat in Sweden

  • Aberdeen have progressed to the third round of the Europa Conference League
  • The Scottish side claimed a 5-2 aggregate victory over Swedish side Hacken
  • Hacken won the second leg 2-0 but it was not enough to overturn the first leg

Aberdeen are through to the third qualifying round of the Europa Conference League despite slipping to a 2-0 defeat by Hacken.

The Scottish club had all-but guaranteed their spot in the next stage of the competition with a 5-0 home win last week but they were given a brief scare by their Swedish opponents.

Martin Olsson put Hacken ahead in the 51st minute before Leo Bengtsson doubled their lead from the penalty spot after Joe Lewis had fouled in the area.

The home side then had Patrik Walemark sent off for a second yellow card in the 71st minute and were unable to complete a miracle comeback in the final 15 minutes.
