LUDHIANA:
Congress Ludhiana MP
Ravneet Singh Bittu, who on Tuesday had started a sit-in against farm laws inside
Parliament even after the session was adjourned, tore a few papers and threw them in the air during the ongoing monsoon session of Parliament.
Bittu said
BJP was running away from a discussion on the issue of farmers.
Later, speaking to TOI, Bittu said, “I have done nothing wrong by tearing the papers; it is just a mark of protest against the sheer arrogance being expressed by BJP and its leaders on the issue of farm bills. It has been almost one year to the start of farmers protest in India. Till date, hundreds of innocent farmers have lost their lives for a common cause. The Centre has crossed all limits of high headedness by supressing the voice of farmers and now parliamentarians. So therefore we are left with no option than to either sleep on the floor of Parliament or throw papers in the air to make ourselves heard.”
Bittu’s picture of sleeping inside Parliament along with
Amritsar MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla on Tuesday night were shared on their social media accounts. While social media users appreciated Bittu and Aujla, others called them “dramebaaz” (pretenders). Some people are even questioning Bittu’s dharna at
Jantar Mantar and claiming that too was a publicity stunt, as he was mostly missing from the spot of dharna.
