Bhopal, July 29 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Thursday urged Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Narendra Singh Tomar to ensure maximum procurement of moong – from registered peasants – at minimum support price and set an additional target of five lakh metric tonnes for summer moong in addition to 0.61 lakh MT for summer urad, it was officially learnt.
The interaction between the leader duo took place at Mr Tomar’s workplace in the national capital.
“Our total production of pulses is 64.94 lakh MT in 2020-21, while the procurement target is 17.23 lakh MT. Approximately 3.2 lakh cultivators registered for acquisition of 12 lakh MT moong,” Mr Chouhan said.
The central Minister lent a patient ear and assured all possible support.
