After the violent clashes over the border dispute between Assam-Mizoram, the Ministry of Home Affairs has now taken over. The Home Ministry has called a meeting of the Chief Secretaries and DGPs of both the states on Wednesday. Assam Chief Secretary Jishnu Barua and Assam DGP Bhaskar Jyoti will attend the meeting along with Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla.

Sources said, “The meeting with Assam Chief Secretary Jishnu Barua started as per schedule. The DGP of Assam reached the Home Ministry on time, but he returned after some time. After this, the meeting with the Chief Secretary of Assam was postponed till 4 pm.

Meanwhile, Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla met Mizoram Chief Secretary Lalnunmawia Chuango and Mizoram DGP SBK Singh at his office. Chief Secretary Mizoram Lalnunmawia Chuango said after the first round of meeting with the Home Secretary that discussions are on the Assam-Mizoram border conflict. Lalnunmawia Chuango said, 'We cannot say anything on this issue. This is protocol. We will meet again in the afternoon.

Following the death of six Assam Police personnel in the Assam-Mizoram border dispute, the Assam government has transferred and posted Hailakandi SP Ramandeep Kaur as the new SP in Cachar district, where the violence took place along the border with Mizoram on July 26. . Chandrakant was injured in the violence and is undergoing treatment at a hospital in Mumbai.
