Tamarack Fire Live Updates: Gavin Newsom, Steve Sisolak Tour Wildfire Damage in Nevada, California
California Gov. Gavin Newsom and Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak will tour some of the damage caused by the Tamarack Fire Wednesday and meet with fire personnel for an update on the incident, according to a press release from Sisolak's office.
The tour will take place around 1:30 p.m. (EDT) at the shared state line area between California and Nevada south of Lake Tahoe.
"The two states have a long and close history of working together on emergency response measures and the Tamarack Fire is no different," the press release said.
Since it was sparked by a lightning strike on July 4, the Tamarack Fire grew to 106-square-miles and burned at least 23 buildings. Some recent cooler weather and rain aided those battling the blaze, and earlier evacuation orders were lifted this week for about 2,000 people near the state line.
However, fire officials cautioned that the hot, dry weather that facilitated the fire's rapid spread could return.

Newsom, Sisolak Call For More Federal Resources to Battle Blazes
After touring an area burned by the Tamarack Fire, Gov. Gavin Newsom and Gov. Steve Sisolak called for more federal support to fight wildfires plaguing the region.
Newsom said that fire personnel were "understaffed and under-resourced" and called the federal pay for the workers "deplorable."
Sisolak conveyed a similar message, saying that the forces battling the fires needed more bodies and air support.
"We cannot ask more of the men and women who have been out here fighting it, but we need more," Sisolak said.
"If we had had enough resources, we could have knocked this out early," he added.

Tamarack Fire 59 Percent Contained
The Tamarack Fire burning along the shared state line between California and Nevada was 59% contained as of Wednesday afternoon, according to the incident information page.
Since beginning their battle against the fire after it sparked on July 4, fire personnel got an advantage this week as the region saw cooler weather and some rainfall Tuesday. Wednesday was also forecast to have cloudy weather with numerous thunderstorms, according to the incident overview on InciWeb.
However, fire officials warned that the blaze could be reinvigorated if the more common hot, dry weather returns.
