Chemists, kebab shops and 12 supermarkets are added to Sydney's relentless Covid exposure site list - as the virus is found in sewage in an area with NO known cases

A huge list of 89 new coronavirus exposure sites in Sydney has been revealed, including several Coles and Woolworths supermarkets, as well as Bunnings and McDonald's.

The relentlessly crowing list comes as Sydneysiders prepare for another four weeks in lockdown, with another 177 cases announced on Wednesday.

A sewage alert has also been put out for Molong in western New South Wales after fragments of the virus were found in wastewater.

Health authorities fear the shocking find could signal and 'undetected' spread of the highly contagious Indian Delta variant in the remote community of about 1700 people.

'NSW Health is aware of a case in the Molong area however this case does not live within the catchment,' the department said in a statement.

'NSW Health is concerned that the detection could signal undetected cases in the community and asks people in these areas to be alert for any symptom that could signal Covid-19, including a sore throat, runny nose, cough, fever or headache.

'If symptoms appear, please isolate and get tested immediately and remain isolated until a negative result is received.'

Meanwhile in the epicentre of the state's coronavirus outbreak which has now climbed to 2,574 cases, the number of exposure sites continues to spiral leaving contact tracers under immense pressure.
