Reds acquire RHP Mychal Givens from Rockies

The Cincinnati Reds continued to bolster their bullpen by trading for Colorado Rockies right-handed pitcher Mychal Givens, MLB.com reported Wednesday.

The Rockies get two Class-A pitching prospects in return -- right-handers Noah Davis and Case Williams, per the report.

Givens, 31, is 3-2 with a 2.73 ERA in 31 games, averaging 10.3 strikeouts per nine innings. He becomes a free agent after the season. Givens spent the first 5 1/2 seasons of his major league career in Baltimore before the Rockies acquired him at the 2020 trade deadline.

He's the third relief pitcher acquired by the Reds in two days. The club traded for Luis Cessa and Justin Wilson from the New York Yankees on Tuesday.

Davis, 24, has a 3-6 record and a 3.60 ERA in 13 starts at High-A Dayton, and Williams goes back to the Rockies after a trade to Cincinnati last winter. The 19-year-old is 2-5 and has a 5.55 ERA in 47 innings of work in low-A Daytona.
