Heyman: Javy Báez-Amir Garrett beef takes Reds out of running for Cubs' shortstop
MLB Network's Jon Heyman tweeted Wednesday that the Cincinnati Reds are "a rare contender needing/seeking" a shortstop, but added that it's safe to assume Chicago Cubs shortstop Javier Báez "isn't a good fit" as Reds relief pitcher Amir Garrett's teammate.

Heyman added that the Reds will need to look at other shortstop candidates, including the Washington Nationals' Trea Turner and the Colorado Rockies' Trevor Story.
Reds shortstop Kyle Farmer has been playing through a lower abdominal injury, but has been among Cincinnati's hottest hitters as of late.
Báez shouted at Garrett and threw his bat toward him as he headed toward first base on his walk-off hit against the Reds earlier this week at Wrigley Field. Major League Baseball's Twitter account shared video of it with the caption, "Javy called game."
In May, Báez was not suspended for his role in a benches-clearing incident against the Reds despite climbing over a dugout railing onto the field and appearing to challenge Garrett to a fight at the outset of a skirmish between the teams during the eighth inning. Garrett was suspended for five games.
