JAIPUR: Ahead of the proposed cabinet reshuffle, the MLAs on Tuesday made a beeline for the chief minister’s residence.
AICC general secretary incharge Ajay Maken is coming on a two-day visit to Jaipur on Wednesday to know the views of the MLAs on the performance of the ministers as part of the exercise. He will meet ministers one-on-one.
It is believed that an in principle agreement has been reached on cabinet expansion and reshuffle, but the party wants to make a solid basis for the removal of ministers.
He will also seek MLAs' views on the appointment of party presidents at district and block level posts lying vacant for over a year. The appointments to various boards and corporations are also on the agenda. "The exercise will be comprehensive as the MLAs have to be accommodated on some post to avoid backlash," said a source.
While the ministers are jittery as the buzz says that some of them might be shown the door, the MLAs are now making all efforts to show up at the CM residence and express their loyalty and claim a place in the ministry citing their caste, area representation and seniority.
Ministers Mamta Bhupesh and Bhanjanlal Jatav have met the chief minister after rumours that they might be dropped.
The MLAs who met CM include Giriraj Malinga, Rajendra Yadav, Shakuntala Rawat, Mahendrajeet Singh Malviya and Govind Meghwal among others.
Some MLAs from
Sachin Pilot camp too reached CM house including Murarilal Meena, a staunch follower of Pilot.
The buzz is that CM may seek resignation of all ministers before the reshuffle.
Six former BSP MLAs who joined
Congress also held a meeting at Lakhan Singh Meena's residence to form strategy before Maken meeting.
