New charges filed against rapist convicted in 2020
Cazembeode Barham is about a year and a half into a 16-year prison sentence for the rape of a 6-year-old, court records show. On Tuesday, he was indicted on new charges involving a different victim.
Barham, 26, was convicted on two counts of rape in February 2020. Prosecutors said he repeatedly raped a 6-year-old between 2008 and 2010 when Barham himself was a juvenile teenager.
Court documents said he admitted to the offense and told detectives the child wanted to participate in the sex acts.
Midway through a bench trial, Barham agreed to plead guilty to two of the charges. He initially faced six counts of rape, which could have amounted to a 48-year prison sentence.
Hamilton County Common Pleas Judge Jody Luebbers accepted his plea. He was sent to the London Correctional Institution.
On Tuesday, a Hamilton County grand jury indicted Barham on three new counts of rape and one count of gross sexual imposition.
Prosecutors said Barham raped another juvenile victim in 2017 who recently came forward. Investigators said the victim was a family acquaintance.
Court documents for the new charges have not yet been made available. Ohio Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation records show Barham is currently still in prison. It is unclear when he will be brought back to Cincinnati for hearings in the case.
