Ed Sheeran considered retiring from music once he became a dad. The star made the confession during a SiriusXM interview, according to NME.

"I stopped playing music for a bit. And music is entirely me as a person. Then I had my daughter, and I was like, right, that's it. This is me. I am probably just going to be a dad. I am not going to play music anymore," the Thinking Out Loud hitmaker revealed.

Ed and his wife, Cherry Seaborn, welcomed their first child together in September 2020.

The singer was on a break from music for a while, then in June 2021 released Bad Habits - his first solo track since his 2017 album, Divide

Coming back to music was important for the star who wanted to set a good example for his daughter.

"Then I was suddenly like, it is more important for my daughter to grow up knowing that her parents have a work ethic?" he questioned, adding: "I slowly got back into music that way and the creative process started flowing again."
