LPU announces cash awards for its medal winning students in Olympics

JALANDHAR: As eleven students of Lovely Professional University (LPU) are part of the Indian contingent in Olympics, the university has announced cash rewards for its students who would win a medal at the Tokyo Olympics. The university will be gifting Rs 50 lakh to gold medal winner, Rs 25 lakh for a silver winner and Rs10 lakh for a bronze medal.
LPU chancellor Ashok Mittal said that their students were participating in wrestling, hockey, athletics and Paralympics and they made 10 percent of the Indian contingent.

“Sports is a huge focus for us and we support and motivate our athletes in all ways possible. We established our high class sports complex at LPU and have created a team of highly qualified national and international trainers and coaches. It is heartening that those efforts are already producing results,’’ he said.
