New CM in next 3-4 days, no question of rebellion: Bommai

Bengaluru, Jul 27 (UNI) Karnataka Home Minister Basavaraj Bommai said it will take three to four days to announce the appointment of new chief minister of the state.

"There will not be much of a gap. It will take three to four days," he told reporters when he was asked how long it would take for the party to decide on a new chief minister's appointment.

Bommai said the final decision on the matter will be taken by the parliamentary board committee of the party after discussing it at the state and national core committees level.

"This is not new. Since our party is a national party, the matter will be discussed at the BJPLP level, core committee levels of the state, and the centre. Finally, the parliamentary board of the party will make a final decision," he added.

Yesterday, BS Yediyurappa had tendered his resignation to Karnataka Governor Thawarchand Gehlot after giving an emotional speech at an event conducted to mark two years completion of his government.

Gehlot also dissolved the council of ministers with immediate effect after Yediyurappa resigned from the post.

Bommai also ruled out the possibility of a rebellion in the party in the wake of the dissolution of the Council of Ministers.

"I want to tell you very categorically that none of the MLAs who came to our party have shown any intent or any inclination to go back to Congress. There is no question of rebellion," he said.

Bommai, however, did not confirm the visit of Dharmendra Pradhan and national party president JP Nadda to discuss the appointment of a new chief minister. "I don't know. As per press it is Dharmendra Pradhan. The latest is, they are saying Naddaji himself might come. It is not confirmed."

Asked to comment on senior Congress leader Siddaramaiah's comments, Bommai said he has no moral right to make any comments on the party and the chief minister because he had lost the election.

"You see, Siddaramaiah has ruled for five years and lost the election. He does not have any moral right to speak about our party and the chief minister. Making such comments shows his condition of the mind. And it is not an appropriate remark coming from an ex-chief minister," he said.
