KOKRAJHAR, July 26: An elderly old age person was rescued on Monday from a bus stand in Kokrajhar town. Notably, the man has been living in abject penury at the bus stand for a few months. Upon information, police rescued the 65-year-old person from an old bus stand in Kokrajhar town with the help of conscious citizens and Ideal NGO members. The person has been identified as Dalen Shilpi Narzary of the Dihira area of Baksa district. He further revealed that he was forced out of his own house and accordingly has been staying along the streets. He has a son, three daughters and a wife, yet his family members seem to be least bothered with his whereabouts.
“Most of the days I have nothing to eat and sleep empty stomach. Sometimes some well-wishers bring me some rice and bread. I am very upset with my family members for forcing me to stay away from the house,” Narzary quipped.
President of Ideal NGO Kokrajhar, Praloya Datta said that the NGO members having information about the old age person who was staying along the footpaths in Kokrajhar town, rescued him with the help of locals and police. He informed that the old man is now in police custody and accordingly NGO members are trying to communicate with his family members.
