Mumbai
Benelli, the
Italian superbike maker, continues to focus on the 250-500cc motorcycle segment
in India. As per Vikas Jhabakh, Business Head, this is a high-growth potential
premium segment. He also said that the company is looking forward to adding
three more motorcycles to the portfolio by the end of this year along with a
gradual expansion of the dealership network in the country. It is expected that
the pre-bookings of the Benelli 502 power cruiser will start soon.
The company has entered again in the Indian market after 2018 after
it has forgone its partnership with Telangana-based Ad Adishwar Auto Ride, a
subsidiary of Mahavir Group. Jhabakh added that the company is targeting the
250-500cc segment because it believes that there is high growth potential in
the premium two-wheeler segment. He also said that the
company wants to stick between the 250cc and 500cc segment because above this
range will be too powerful or a very long jump which the company might not be
able to handle at the current moment. He also commented on the pricing point of
view. He said that currently, the 125cc to 150cc bikes cost around Rs 1 Lakh to
Rs 1.6 Lakh. So, now the company wants to cater to the Rs 2 Lakh- Rs 5 Lakh
bracket because Rs 8 Lakh to Rs 10 Lakh bracket will be quite high.
