ICA-AP in collaboration with the ICA-EU Partnership, the ICA-AP Committee on Youth Cooperation (ICYC), and the ICA Domus Trust launches the third edition of the virtual Asia Pacific Cooperative Youth Summit (APCYS 3.0) from 27- 29 July 2021, reads a release mailed by ICA-AP.

This time round theme is ‘Celebrating Youth as Torchbearers of the Cooperative Identity.’ The Summit aims to bring together youth from different parts of the Asia-Pacific region and inculcate in them the culture of youth cooperativism.

Over 3,500 participants have registered to attend the Summit from 23 Countries – Bangladesh, Brazil, Cambodia, Cameroun, CANADA, China, India, Indonesia, Iran, Japan, Kenya, KIRIBATI, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Uganda, and Vietnam.

The Summit features 30 speakers from 16 countries including Ms. Zahra Al-Hilaly, UN Australian Representative to UN Women’s Generation Equality Youth Task Force as the keynote speaker for the opening ceremony and P.B. Nooh IAS (TBC), Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Government of Kerala, India as the keynote speaker for the closing ceremony.

The Summit will celebrate the role played by youth in cooperatives, showcase youth entrepreneurs, get ideas from youth about new forms of cooperatives, and inculcate in them a culture of youth cooperativism. The press release mailed by ICA AP claims that It will provide a platform to put spotlight on youth who are at the forefront of starting new cooperatives to address needs in their communities

? Explore how we make the cooperative identity a competitive advantage in attracting the young and in exploring new opportunities

? Create an environment for youth to be engaged in work driven by passion and empathy towards others as well as cooperative values and principles, rather than competition and profit-making

? Hear from youth, the new and sustainable enterprise ideas on cooperatives that cater to the needs and aspirations of the youth in their countries, through Coop Pitch Competition.

A key highlight of APCYS is the Coop Pitch Competition, designed to find new and sustainable enterprise ideas on cooperatives led by youth. Participants pitch cooperative business ideas catering to the needs and aspirations of the youth and community in their country.

This year AMUL or the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), the largest dairy cooperative in the world, owned by 3.6 million milk producers, is sponsoring the first and second prizes and the third prize is being sponsored by the ICA Domus Trust.
