A 50-year-old woman on the KZN South Coast was shot five times on Monday.

According to Margate police spokesperson Sergeant Sibu Ncane, the woman was shot while she was waiting for the gate to open on her driveway.

“Police received a complaint of a shooting on Monday, July 26 at 5.30 pm. The incident had occurred at Christopher Road in Margate.

“It is alleged that a 50-year-old female was in her vehicle waiting for the gate to be opened when the unknown suspect appeared at the driver’s side and fired about five shots at the vehicle, injuring her in the right breast,” he said.

He added that the woman was then rushed to a local hospital for treatment. He could not say how many gunshot wounds she sustained.

Ncane added police have not made any arrests as yet and are investigating a case of attempted murder.
