The Delhi police have now registered a case against former Congress President Rahul Gandhi for driving a tractor to Parliament along with other party MPs as a gesture to back the protesting farmers on farm laws on Monday. The tractor, which Gandhi drove has also been seized by the Delhi Police.
Terming Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s tractor march to Parliament, a major security breach, the Delhi Police initiated probe into the matter. A case has also been filed against the Congress leaders at Parliament Street police station under Motor Vrhicle Act, IPC 188 and violation of Covid protocol under the Epidemic Act.
The Delhi police is set to inquire the failure of the cops to prevent the entry of a tractor in central Delhi without prior permission by the authorities. However, the Section-144 were remains put in place in the area due to the Monsoon Session of Parliament.
Police officials said Gandhi’s tractor march is a security and intelligence failure in the wake of the ongoing farmers’ protest at the Jantar Mantar, the monsoon session of Parliament and the Independence Day, for which nearly 5,000 personnel have been deployed in central Delhi.
On Monday, Rahul Gandhi drove a tractor to Parliament along with other party MPs Pratap Singh Bajwa, Ravneet Singh Bittu, Deepinder Singh Hooda, Gurjit Singh Aujla, Jasbir Singh Gill and other leaders like Randeep Surjewala, and demanded that the three contentious laws to be repealed. Many BJP leaders, including Agricultural Minister Narendra Singh Tomar, Union Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi and others had targeted Rahul Gandhi over the tractor rally.
Congress general secretary Randeep Surjewala and Youth Congress chief BV Srinivas, along with a number of party leaders, were detained by the Delhi Police outside Parliament and taken to Mandir marg police station. The police said 10 people, who had raised slogans demanding the withdrawal of farm laws, have been detained and were released late in the afternoon.

Since September 2020, tractors have not been allowed to enter central Delhi, especially Lutyens’ zone, after a tractor was set on fire at the India Gate by some Punjab Youth Congress workers to mark their protest against the Cente’s three farm laws.
In other India News, At least five personnel of the Assam Police were killed, and more than 50 people, including officials, were injured in clashes at the border with Mizoram on Monday.
