Bengaluru, Jul 27 (UNI) Following BS Yediyurappa's resignation from the chief minister post, all eyes are on today's BJP Legislature Party meeting of the state party unit, where a new chief minister will be decided.
"The BJP's Legislature Party (BJPLP) Meeting has been convened at 7 pm at Hotel Capitol," senior BJP leader Ganesh Karnik said in a statement here.
According to party sources in Delhi, the party's parliamentary board will shortlist the names of the probables and communicate them to the BJP legislators in Karnataka through emissaries.
Some central leaders are expected to travel to Karnataka to get the feedback from the legislators on the names of the probables during the BJPLP meeting.
Arun Singh, the BJP in-charge for Karnataka and G Kishan Reddy are likely to visit the city as observers.
The BJPLP will discuss the names of the probables and decide on the chief minister designate. Yediyurappa will also participate in the meeting.
Earlier, Karnataka Home Minister Basavaraj Bommai said, it will take three to four days to announce the appointment of new chief minister of the state.
Bommai said, the final decision on the matter will be taken by the parliamentary board committee of the party after discussing it at state and national core committees level.
"This is not new. Since our party is a national party, the matter will be discussed at BJPLP level, core committee levels of the state and the centre. Finally, the parliamentary board of the party will make a final decision," he added.
Yesterday, BS Yediyurappa had tendered his resignation to Karnataka Governor Thawarchand Gehlot after giving an emotional speech at an event conducted to mark two years completion of his government.
Gehlot also dissolved the council of ministers with immediate effect after Yediyurappa resigned from the post.
Bommai also ruled out the possibility of a rebellion in the party in the wake of dissolution of the Council of Ministers.
"I want to tell you very categorically that none of the NLAs who came to our party have not shown any intent or any inclination to go back to Congress. There is no question of rebellion," he said.
